– Many people don’t use conditioner, but it is especially important to use this in the winter months to help avoid dry hair and static
– Use conditioner as a hair mask by leaving it on for longer in the shower while you exfoliate, shave, etc.
– Use a silk pillowcase / silk scrunchie to avoid friction which contributes to breakage, split ends and static
– Use dry shampoo the night before to ensure it soaks into your hair and remove oils — this will also help eliminate the time you spend to get ready in the morning
– Focus styling products at the ends of the hair instead of the roots
– Brush your hair starting from the ends upward to avoid pulling on the hair and causing unnecessary breakage — this is especially important to do on wet hair when the hair is most prone to breaking
– For hair health from the inside out, consume protein (i.e. fish, eggs, chicken, legumes, nuts, beans), vitamin C (blueberries, broccoli, sweet potatoes, oranges, strawberries), and omega 3s (salmon, sardines, avocados, pumpkin seeds, walnuts)
– Important supplements to take for hair health are collagen and fish oil/algae oil
– Don’t blowdry soaking wet hair — let your hair naturally air dry until it is about 50-60 percent dry to help avoid dryness and brittleness
– Avoid hot showers as this will dry out your scalp and lead to dry hair and static
– Use a humidifier to help avoid dryness and static — this is a huge help in the winter when we need to use heat in our homes
