Killing Eve season 2: Viewers praise Villanelle’s ‘strong suit game’

Killing Eve viewers went wild for Villanelle’s comic book pyjamas as the second season of the series hit TV screens in the UK on Saturday evening.

Psychopathic Russian assassin Oksana Astankova, played by Liverpudlian actress Jodie Comer, 26, was seen escaping her hospital ward in a superhero inspired onesie taken from a young patient.

Villanelle shocked fans when she broke the little boy’s neck – after he expressed his distress at having to continue living with life-changing injuries sustained in a car crash – before she got back on the trail of agent Eve Polastri, played by Sandra Oh.

And fans quickly praised Villanelle, whose eye-catching designer ensembles quickly saw her hailed as a style icon during the first season, for being able to pull of the child-sized nightwear.

One viewer wrote: ‘Villanelle is amazing only she can make petite pyjamas look cool’, while another joked: ‘That’s my Monday outfit sorted!’.

Another added: ‘Extreme suspension of disbelief required for me to believe those pyjamas would fit her so well BUT I SO DON’T CARE BECAUSE Villanelle is IN BLAM pyjamas’.

Desperate to buy the pyjamas, another added: ‘I am scouring the Internet tomorrow for similar fabric to this & making myself some sexy af Villanelle pyjamas’.

However those hoping to find a pair of similar pyjamas will be sorely disappointed, as the show’s costume designer, Charlotte Mitchell, previously revealed they were custom-made.

Speaking to LA Times, she said they were originally meant to be Spider Man pyjamas, but added: ‘We have to be careful with clearance on branded clothes.

‘So I looked at what the alternative [pattern] could be, still with that comic book feel. It quickly became apparent I would need to have them made.’

Jodie Comer added: ‘We had these ones with this gorgeous material that was obviously like, if the boy was from a quite wealthy family.

‘And then that all changed and they were like, ‘Hey, here’s this really stretchy, unforgivable fabric, in a Size H10 boy. Throw it on.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, my God, where are my boobs gonna go?’.

On Saturday night Killing Eve finally returned to screens on for the first time since last spring with a new episode, titled Do You Know How To Dispose Of A Body?.

But fans still couldn’t contain their horror when, near the end of the episode, Villanelle suddenly snapped the neck of a young boy [Pierre Atri] who flippantly expressed that he wished he was dead.

However their horror soon turned to joy, when she was seen donning the little boy’s pyjamas as she made a stealthy escape from the hospital.

The episode saw Eve being re-hired by Carolyn [Fiona Shaw] to hunt Villanelle, while the hitwoman escaped the hospital and stowed away in a family’s car as they traveled on the ferry from Calais back to England.
